ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY

Bethesda Rx Consulting was founded by a team of consultant pharmacists. Our unwavering passion to serve the elderly population ignited a zeal in us to consistently utilize our advanced pharmacy training to promote the health and wellness of the geriatric community. The comprehensive clinical training of our pharmacists enables them to be an indispensable asset to various interdisciplinary medical teams.

Bethesda Rx Consulting is an independent pharmacy consulting firm that is not affiliated with any pharmacy order.  Bethesda’s loyalty stands with the patients and facilities that we serve because we are not affiliated with any particular Long Term Care (LTC) pharmacy. Bethesda Rx Consulting consistently endeavors to empower various healthcare facilities to function efficiently by providing various services such as strict regulatory compliance and cost management. Our priority is to enrich the  various healthcare facilities that we serve by providing comprehensive medication management services.

FACTS ABOUT CONSULTANT PHARMACISTS

Consultant pharmacists have specialized knowledge in geriatrics, geriatric pharmacotherapy, and the unique medication-related needs of the senior population, which they apply in the provision of pharmaceutical care1

Consultant pharmacists manage and improve drug therapy and improve the quality of life of seniors and other individuals residing in a variety of environments, including hospitals, sub-acute care, nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities, psychiatric hospitals, hospice, or at home.1

The senior care pharmacist both educates others in the clinical team as to medication management, and takes continuing education courses in this area to further self-development.1

Consultant pharmacists participate in facility quality assurance programs, conduct clinician-training sessions, and ensure appropriate clinical practice guidelines are met and followed by the facility.1

The economic impact of medication-related problems in persons over the age of 65 now rivals that of Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Medication-related problems are estimated to be one of the top five causes of death in that age group, and a major cause of confusion, depression, falls, disability, and loss of independence.1
